Construction complete at two brand-new schools on Fruitville Road

Two new schools have recently completed construction on Fruitville Road in Sarasota County. Both Sarasota Classical Preparatory Academy and Prodigy Early Learning will open for the upcoming school year in the month ahead, according to a statement from Ryan Companies, which partnered with Red Apple Development on the projects.

“We know that when we need a school to be student-ready by the first day of school, Ryan will deliver on time every time,” Scott Woodrey, president of Red Apple Development, says in a statement.

Located at 8743 Fruitville Road, Sarasota Classical Preparatory Academy spans 45,623 square feet. Billed as tuition-free, the charter school will serve 900 students in kindergarten through 8th grades. The campus features a multipurpose athletic field and small amphitheater designed to serve as an outdoor classroom, according to a statement.

On the same parcel as Sarasota Classical Preparatory Academy is another school — Prodigy Early Learning at Sarasota — which will offer preschool and serve 205 students. Located at 8763 Fruitville Road, Prodigy spans 12,814 square feet.

Ryan Companies and Red Apple Development have collaborated to deliver more than 60 projects and over 4 million square feet of learning space throughout the Southeastern United States, according to a statement.

Headquartered in Minneapolis, Ryan Companies provides comprehensive real estate services across healthcare, housing, industrial, mixed-use, office and retail sectors.

Red Apple Development, based in Fort Lauderdale, is among the nation’s largest charter school developers, having built 75 new facilities totaling nearly 5 million square feet. The company purchased 11 acres for the schools along Fruitville Road from Faith Baptist Church for $3.5 million in 2025, the Business Observer previously reported. 

The two new schools in Sarasota were delivered in partnership with education management company CSUSA, which also manages College Preparatory Academy at Wellen Park, Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy, Manatee Charter School and a slew of other charter schools in the region.
