Being able to pivot when things shift. The value of building trust and transparency as a new CEO. Doing the little things right, consistently.

Those are some of the key insights and pieces of wisdom bits from the past month of "From the Corner Office" podcast episodes dropped by the Business Observer and sponsored by Synovus Bank. Highlights of the five January guests on the leadership podcast include:

Ashley Ljesevic, founder of Endurance Diaries, talked about striving for big goals and how she does that in her work and personal life, pivoting when necessary. For her, it’s more about endurance, not mere hustle for hustle’s sake.

Sinead Runyon, with Express Employment Professionals, talked about the responsibility she feels to do the right things, for the right reasons, everyday as a leader. That means staying when things get difficult, owning mistakes publicly and showing up for both clients and staff even when it would be easier not to.

Tom Hall, co-founder and chairman of Tampa marketing firm Tucker/Hall and something of an ad industry pioneer, talked about the keys to getting through a crisis: tell the truth, tell it all and tell it right now

Jake Halusic, founder of Tampa tech firm Trofeo, talked about a trio of essential lessons he’s learned in his efforts to launch and grow the software firm. The lessons include leaders succeed when they trust their teams and delegate real responsibility; patience is a practical leadership skill and not a personality trait; failures are data and fuel for improvement rather than setbacks.

Nicci Bucher, CEO of the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, talked about her thought process in taking a leap on a big career jump to CEO. One key? You don't have to know 100% of the role on the first day. Another important lesson she has learned is leaders should never be above doing any task in the organization.
