Courier Capital, a registered investment advisory firm headquartered in Buffalo, New York, has opened an office in Lakewood Ranch. The new location at 6901 Professional Parkway East will enable the company to generate new business and assist existing clients who spend time in Florida.

“We believe this move allows us to serve a growing segment of our client base more effectively, while also opening the door to new relationships in one of the nation’s most dynamic retirement markets,” Courier Capital President James Iglewski says in a statement.

Courier Capital provides investment management, financial planning and consulting services to individuals, businesses, institutions, nonprofits and retirement plans.

The firm is one of the largest registered investment advisory firms in Western New York, with about $3.4 billion in assets under management as of June 30, according to a statement. It has more than 25 employees across offices in Buffalo, Rochester and Jamestown, New York; as well as in Pittsburgh.

“Establishing our Florida office is a key milestone in the strategic growth of our firm,” Iglewski says. “As we expand our geographic footprint, our priority remains the same — to support the long-term wealth generation goals of our clients” through research-driven guidance and a boutique approach centered around the client.

Courier Capital’s Executive Vice President of Wealth Management and Co-Chief Investment Officer Thomas J. Hanlon will lead the Sarasota office, which will house additional investment professionals.

Courier Capital is a subsidiary of Financial Institutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: FISI), which is a financial holding company with $6.1 billion in assets as of June 30.
