A Bradenton company recently secured a patent for its roofing technology. Crazy Seal, based off State Road 64, developed a technology for fixing roofs that permanently eliminates leaks and extends the lifespan of a roof to 50-plus years, according to a statement. The product is a fiber-infused, liquid-applied membrane that self-levels, forming a single, permanent waterproof layer, eliminating the need for tear-offs or costly repairs, the statement says.

"For decades, the roofing industry has been forced to rely on temporary coatings or outdated membranes that fail within a few years," Crazy Seal CEO and owner Lee Thaxton says in a statement. "This patent represents a turning point. Our seamless, fluid-applied roofing system redefines what's possible — delivering durability, waterproofing and energy efficiency like never before."

Designed to withstand extreme temperatures, heavy rain and snow as well as UV exposure, the Crazy Seal roofing system is silicone-based and incorporates polyethylene fibers, according to the statement. It comes with a 50-year warranty and is “ideal for high-impact environments,” with a membrane that prevents cracking, puncturing and peeling, according to the statement.

The newly patented product can be applied directly over existing flat or low-slope roofs — on commercial buildings, vehicles and residences — which the company says helps eliminate downtime.

Since securing its patent in November, Crazy Seal has been expanding its partnerships with contractors, facility managers and commercial property owners, according to the March 31 statement.

"With our patented system, roofing doesn't have to be a recurring headache anymore," Thaxton says. "Whether it's a commercial facility, RV, transportation fleet or residential property, Crazy Seal ensures long-lasting waterproofing and cost savings."
