The Toasted Yolk Cafe opened its second location in Sarasota this week. The latest addition to the breakfast-and-lunch company’s portfolio is in Center Point at Waterside in Lakewood Ranch.
Omelettes, pancakes, shrimp and grits, avocado toast and donuts are among the items on the breakfast menu, while soups, salads and sandwiches are available for those seeking lunch fare. A full bar provides a selection of wine, beer and cocktails such as mimosas.
Co-founders of the Toasted Yolk brand Chris and Kelly Milton own the new restaurant, which is located on University Parkway and marks the second in Sarasota for the husband-and-wife team; their first restaurant in Sarasota opened on U.S. 41 in February 2023. A Toasted Yolk Cafe on Cortez Road West opened in September in Bradenton, which is the hometown of Chris Milton.
To grow brand recognition and build a strong team of employees, the Miltons are planning to have five to 10 Toasted Yolk locations in the area, they told the Business Observer last year.
Currently, there are 43 Toasted Yolk locations throughout the South, with more than 14 restaurants being developed in Florida, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi and Arizona, according to a statement from the company, was founded in 2010 in Houston.
To celebrate the Jan. 6 grand opening of the Lakewood Ranch restaurant, the Toasted Yolk Cafe is donating a portion of its sales on Jan. 9 and Jan. 10 to the nonprofit Lakewood Ranch Community Foundation. Those who visit the restaurant in its first week will also have a chance to win free breakfast for a year.
