The World Champions Cup, the PGA Tour Champions’ three-day global teams golf competition, is returning to Tampa Bay for a second time this December.
This time, players from Team International, Team USA and Team Europe will tee off at Clearwater’s Feather Sound Country Club from Dec. 4-7.
The competition made its debut in east Manatee County in 2023 but was postponed in 2024 due to hurricane damage and weather concerns, organizers said. It returns to the region as the Skechers World Champions Cup, supporting Tampa-based Shriners Children’s as its official charity partner.
“The Skechers World Champions Cup supporting Shriners Children's featured incredible competition in its first year, and it was obvious from Day 1 how badly the players wanted to win and how they embraced the team format,” says Peter Jacobsen, Tournament Chairman for the Skechers World Champions Cup supporting Shriners Children’s. “Building on the momentum from the inaugural event, Skechers, Shriners Children’s and Feather Sound are ideal partners to elevate the event and truly solidify it as a must-see global golf tournament.”
Feather Sound, a par-72, 7,332-yard championship course, was chosen for the event because it boasts one of the most challenging layouts in the Tampa Bay area, organizers said in a release. It is also centrally located between Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Tampa, adjacent to Carillon Park. Feather Sound has been ranked as one of the top five private clubs in Tampa Bay, and last year hosted the Aramco Team Series, sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour.
The Skechers World Champions Cup supporting Shriners Children’s will be the third major golf tournament to take place in the region. The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair will bring the greatest female professional golfers in the world to the Tampa Bay area from Nov. 12 to 16. Then, in March 2026, the Valspar Championship will return to Innisbrook Golf and Spa Resort in Palm Harbor.
The Skechers World Champions Cup supporting Shriners Children’s is a three-team, three-day competition across nine-hole matches and will feature team formats and singles play, with points earned for each hole won in the competition’s 24 matches.
Shriners Children’s will be the beneficiary of the event and host the Shriners Children’s Celebrity Classic on Monday, Dec. 1. As the title sponsor and official shoe of the competition, Skechers’ will host an on-site, immersive pop-up shop at the event as well as a Skechers VIP hospitality suite.
ABC and ESPN will exclusively televise the competition on Dec. 4, 5 and 7.
