Hobby Lobby opens new store near Bradenton

A new crafting and home decor supply store has opened off State Route 64 in Manatee County.

Hobby Lobby has opened a new store in east Manatee, marking the second location for the company in the county. The latest shop, at 7165 State Route 64, welcomed its first customers on April 4, according to a statement from Hobby Lobby.

Spanning 55,000 square feet, the new store is in the Marketplace at Heritage Harbour, anchored by Costco. It is next to Academy Sports + Outdoors.

The new location marks the 58th store for Hobby Lobby in Florida, according to a statement. One other Manatee County store is at 4490 Cortez Road West.

Each Hobby Lobby features more than 80,000 crafting and home decor products, ranging from custom framing to jewelry-making to scrapbooking to home accents.

Monica Scott is the store manager for the shop off State Route 64, according to a statement. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sunday.

Since its beginnings in a 300-square-foot shop in Oklahoma City in 1972, Hobby Lobby has grown to more than 1,000 locations in 48 states, according to the company. It is headquartered in Oklahoma City and has more than 46,000 employees.
