University of Tampa president Teresa Abi-Nader Dahlberg, who began her tenure in June of this year, announced a new moniker for the school.

Instead of UT, the University of Tampa’s new nickname will be UTampa.

“There are numerous other UTs in the higher education space, including the universities of Texas, Tennessee, Toledo, Toronto and Tulsa,” Dahlberg says in a released statement. “Since its founding, the University has been closely linked to the city of Tampa, and by calling ourselves UTampa, we can strengthen that association, eliminate confusion and assert our pride in our university and our city.”

The University also introduced three new logos that enhance the traditional UT logo.

The University of Tampa is a private university located on 110 acres on the riverfront in downtown Tampa. The University has about 200 programs of study and serves more than 11,000 students from all 50 states and most of the world’s countries.
