A Southwest Florida ophthalmology practice is expanding after buying a Punta Gorda optical surgery center.

Collins Vision, which has locations in Fort Myers and Naples, picked up the Eyecare and Surgery Center of Southwest Florida at 3665 Tamiami Trail.

Terms of the transaction, announced Monday afternoon, were not disclosed. 

The privately owned and doctor-led ophthalmology practice says in a statement that adding the Eyecare and Surgery Center allows it to “better serve both new and existing patients in Charlotte County.”

Collins provides comprehensive eye care including cataract surgery, LASIK vision correction surgery, oculoplastic surgery, glaucoma evaluation and surgery, retina evaluation and treatment, diabetic eye exams and regular medical eye exams, according to the statement. It also has a large optical boutique.

The practice was founded in 2004 uses what it says are “the most technologically advanced tools for vision correction procedures.” That technology includes Light Adjustable Lens, which “customizes intricate refractive challenges after cataract surgery.”
