Bloomin’ Brands has completed work on its new 13,000-square-foot flagship Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar location and will open it to diners Sep. 9.
The company announced the opening date Thursday about 16 months after it began work on the restaurant, which is about a half-mile from its Tampa headquarters.
Fleming’s new eatery will serve as a flagship for the Bloomin’ unit and has a new design which the company calls “Napa inspired.”
The idea, according to a news release, was to “create a rich, immersive experience that blends the strength of our California roots with the dynamic energy of our coastal home here in Tampa.”
While the restaurant’s design is intended to recall the Napa Valley, Fleming’s first restaurant opened about 450 miles south in the Southern California city of Newport Beach in 1988.
The new restaurant is at 4342 W. Boy Scout Blvd. where Roy’s formerly stood and next door to the previous Fleming’s, which is becoming a Bonefish Grill.
It sits on a stretch of road across from International Plaza and near Tampa International Airport that features a corridor of restaurants including Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant and Eddie V’s Prime Seafood on the high end and Outback Steakhouse and Miller’s Ale House on the middle end. The iconic Charley’s Steak House is planning to move into a new building about a half mile west on Boy Scout next year.
Raymond James Stadium is about a mile away.
Fleming’s currently has 63 locations nationwide with one under construction in the UTC area in east Manatee County.
Tampa-based Bloomin’ Brands started in the 1988 when it opened the first Outback Steakhouse on Henderson Boulevard in the city. Today, the company owns Carrabba's Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill and Aussie Grill by Outback. It operates more than 1,450 restaurants globally and employs more than 87,000 people.
The company posted $4.67 billion in revenue in 2023.
