Manatee Memorial Hospital opened the doors to its new freestanding emergency room in West Bradenton on Oct. 29.

The Manatee ER at Palma Sola offers X-ray, CT, ultrasound and lab services as well as a full-service emergency department. It is considered an extension of Manatee Memorial Hospital, which is about 5 miles away. Officials note that the ER is different from urgent care; services provided there will be billed at hospital emergency department rates.

Spanning 10,884 square feet, the emergency room complex includes six exam rooms, three rapid medical spaces, a full-service laboratory as well as X-ray and ultrasound areas, according to Alabama-based construction firm Robins & Morton, which served as the general contractor for the project.

Opening for the ER came later than originally planned due to hurricanes Helene and Milton, officials say. “After weathering delays from two major storms, our dedicated and friendly staff is ready to provide compassionate care to the West Bradenton community and the barrier islands,” according to the statement from Manatee Memorial Hospital.

The Manatee ER at Palma Sola is at 633 75th St. W. in Bradenton. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
