In the days following Hurricane Helene, recovery efforts are underway all along the Gulf Coast. To support the customers in its coverage area, Tampa Electric (TECO) announced a significant donation from shareholder funds to support organizations working directly with those affected by the storm’s impact.
“We understand that the needs of the community extend far beyond restoring power,” TECO President and CEO Archie Collins says in a statement. “Hurricane Helene caused more severe flooding than any storm in Tampa Electric’s history, and we are committed to supporting our customers during this difficult period of recovery and rebuilding.”
Tampa Electric is donating $250,000 to the following organizations:
Tampa Electric, one of Florida’s largest investor-owned electric utilities, serves more than 840,000 customers in West Central Florida. Tampa Electric is a subsidiary of Emera Inc., a geographically diverse energy and services company headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
