This is a breaking news story and will be updated as details come in.
A 42-story tower in downtown Tampa, the tallest in the city, has sold. Details of the deal were not immediately available.
According the commercial real estate firm JLL, the sale of the building at 100 N. Tampa St. closed Tuesday. The company did not disclose the name of the buyer nor how much it paid for the property.
A spokesperson says in an email that "unfortunately, we cannot share buyer or price" and Hillsborough County property records had not been updated as of early Wednesday afternoon.
The 42-story tower was built in 1992 and is bordered on the west side by Ashley Street. It is about a block from the Tampa Riverwalk and near the site where the Pendry Hotel and Residences is under construction.
According to JLL, the 572,111-square-foot building is 83% leased and underwent a $21 million renovation recently. That renovation included a new lobby, tenant lounge and updates to the conference and fitness centers.
A property overview on JLL’s website describes 100 North Tampa as being “widely recognized for its trademark gothic-style roof, Spanish granite cornices and inspiring, monumental lobby.”
The property was on the market at least once before in 2019.
At that time, the Business Observer reported it was expected to sell for more than $200 million.
Offering documents indicated that the commercial real estate firm Holliday Fenoglio Fowler L.P. was seeking $375 per square foot for the building.
PGIM paid $127 million for it in 2007, according to the previous Business Observer story.
