$10B bank based outside Miami names Tampa, Central Florida leader

Mike Nursey has been named Central Florida market president for Coral Gables-based Amerant Bank. 

His appointment is part of Amerant’s strategy to expand its presence in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties in addition to other growing Central Florida markets, according to a statement. 

Amerant Bank is he main subsidiary of Amerant Bank Corp, and has $9.79 billion in assets. It has one branch location at its regional headquarters in the Westshore district of Tampa and dozens of ATMs spread throughout the region.

Nursey built his career in banking throughout Florida. He was previously with TD Bank in several roles — most recently as North Florida market president and before that as managing director for Middle Market Florida, Central Florida market president and regional vice president. The teams he led were responsible for client acquisition and providing growth capital for companies ranging from $20 million to $1 billion in revenue. Prior to his time at TD, Nursey was a commercial canking executive for Regions Bank in the Jacksonville and Miami markets.
