A Sarasota-Manatee area owner of a beverage distributor business has been named to the board of directors of Better Together, a privately-funded Naples-based nonprofit that helps families in crisis.

Andrea Saputo Cox was recently added to the board, which also includes Tarren Bragdon, Doug Campbell, Richard Vaughan and Christian Spilker, according to a statement.

Saputo Cox is the president and owner of Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, a Lakewood Ranch distributor of Anheuser-Busch products as well as liquor, wine and nonalcoholic beverages for Sarasota and Manatee counties.

She is known for her "calm demeanor" and "high-level work ethic" on the job, the Business Observer previously reported, and those characteristics will help her as a board member as well.

“The board provides support and guidance as we work to keep families together, and Andrea’s insight and compassion will be valuable additions as we work to serve families throughout Florida,” Better Together CEO Megan Rose says in a statement.

Better Together helps provide places for children to live while their families are working to get back on their feet, and it also assists people with finding jobs, homes, child care and treatment programs.

The nonprofit, which reported net assets of $9.46 million in 2022, operates in more than a dozen Florida counties.
