Crisis Center of Tampa Bay has merged with several organizations in its 50 year history, but this latest merger comes with an interesting caveat: Crisis Center CEO Clara Reynolds founded the nonprofit that will be brought into the fold.

Starting January 2025, Crisis Center of Tampa Bay and Success 4 Kids and Families will merge under the umbrella of the Crisis Center.

Success 4 Kids and Families was founded in 2005 by Reynolds, who served as Executive Director until accepting the CEO position at the Crisis Center in 2015, according to a statement. The organization’s focus is on providing support and services for individuals and families coping with behavioral, emotional or mental health challenges through their counseling, educational and medication management programs to name a few.

“This is a strategic move that is a tremendous benefit to our community. The services provided by Success 4 Kids & Families directly align with the mission of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. We’ll be able to provide operational efficiencies while still maintaining the unique and valuable services Success 4 Kids & Families provides to our community. As the two organizations merge, it is a tremendous honor to lead as President & CEO,” Reynolds relays in a statement.

Crisis Center of Tampa Bay provides immediate care to the community via a telephone contact center that answers seven crisis and community information lines, offers trauma counseling at three locations and through teletherapy, serves as Hillsborough County’s certified rape crisis center and operates TransCare Medical Transportation.

The Crisis Center has an annual budget of $25 million and Success 4 Kids and Families has a budget of $7.5 million. Once the merger is complete, all Success 4 Kids employees will become employees of the Crisis Center and carry on providing the same services, but Success 4 Kids will cease operations as a separate entity.
