Toronto-based biometrics security company BioConnect has acquired Silent Partner Technologies Inc., a Tampa-based software company.

Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Silent Partner, according to a statement, has been a leader in radio frequency identification for the past 20 years. It has more than 1,500 customers spanning EMS and fire to fleet management and heavy machinery compliance.

The technology of the combined companies, BioConnect officials say, will help create an “advanced cloud based” platform for smart safes, smart lockers, smart cabinets, smart rooms and smart vehicles. “With the acquisition of Silent Partner Technologies, together we will offer a simple cloud subscription to upgrade any area protecting assets to become the next generation ‘Smart Space’ solution,” Rob Douglas, founder and CEO of BioConnect, says in the statement.

BioConnect was founded in 2010. It now has over 18,000 active subscription customers, predominantly in the United States.
