A global technology conference, the Wi-Fi World Congress and Expo, is being held in Florida for the first time ever later this spring, in Sarasota.

The three-day conference is scheduled for April 22-24 at the Westin Sarasota. The conference, according to a statement from the Denmark-based industry association hosting it, Wi-Fi NOW, brings “together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and experts from across the global Wi-Fi industry.”

“More than 500 world and U.S.-based Wi-Fi leaders including North America’s top service providers, vendors and industry organizations will be part of the WWC,” Wi-Fi NOW CEO and Chairman Claus Hetting says in the release. “Education, industry advancement and supporting the Florida Wi-Fi business are the primary goals of the conference.”

Floridian Wi-Fi technology vendors and service providers speaking at the event include GoZone WiFi, Dojo Networks, Frontier Communications, the organization states, with more to be announced.

The event will be celebrating 25 Years of Wi-Fi, with a social event April 23 that will feature the latest inductee into the Wi-Fi NOW Hall of Fame (to be named at the event). “As always our catchwords for the conference will be innovation and opportunity,” says Hetting in the statement.

Other topics for the conference include:

  • How to create exceptional Wi-Fi experiences for the home and businesses, including spaces like offices, hotels, arenas, stadiums and more
  • The U.S. on the forefront of regulation for unlicensed bands with the allocation of 1200 MHz of new 6 GHz spectrum to hugely improved connectivity services
  • New Wi-Fi standards that will deliver gigabits of speed to a new generation of new devices including AR and VR
