GuideWell Mutual Holding Co. and Florida Blue, both Florida-based health insurance entities, have appointed Tampa businessman Will Weatherford to board seats.

Weatherford is currently managing partner alongside his two brothers, Drew and Sam, at Weatherford Capital in Tampa. The three founded the investment firm in 2015, after Weatherford ended his term as speaker of the Florida house. Weatherford served in the Florida Legislature from 2006-2014, and was the youngest presiding officer of any state legislative chamber in the U.S. when he was appointed speaker in 2012, according to a statement.

"We are thrilled to welcome Will Weatherford to GuideWell and Florida Blue’s board of directors. His exceptional leadership style, marked by his collaborative approach and innovative thinking, will be a valuable asset to our organization,” says John Ramil, chair of GuideWell’s board of directors, in the statement.

Pat Geraghty, president and CEO of GuideWell and Florida Blue adds, “His extensive financial background and expertise will provide critical insights as we continue to navigate the evolving health care landscape. We look forward to leveraging Will's unique perspective and skills to drive our mission forward and improve the health and well-being of our members and communities."

Weatherford serves on several other boards, including USF’s board of trustees, Dream Finders Homes, Kitson and Partners, PayIt, Utility Inc., The Florida Council of 100 and The National Council for the American Enterprise Institute. Weatherford also recently served as co-chairman of Super Bowl LV Host Committee in Tampa Bay.
