Bradenton boating company president steps down

The president of Boaters World Marine Centers will be stepping down, according to a statement from the company. 

Stewart Thompson is leaving his post as president of the Bradenton-based marine company to spend more time with his family, the statement says.

"I appreciate the opportunity that Boater's World has given me, and I am proud of the organization that we have built,” Stewart says.

Boaters World Marine Centers is a group of marine dealerships across Florida, Georgia, Texas and Virginia.

"Stewart's hard work and dedication over the past 6 years has helped BWMC grow to the level it is today," Tom D'Azevedo, chairman for parent company Outdoor Network, says in a statement.”The Outdoor Network family thanks Stewart for his passion and dedication and wish him well in his next endeavor.”

Boaters World Marine Centers saw its “greatest era of sales growth” during Thompson’s time as president, the statement says. The company is more than 24 years old, according to its website.

Outdoor Network CEO Martin Polo will take over as interim president to oversee day-to-day operations for Boaters World Marine Centers, according to the statement.

“Stewart has done a great job of launching the business for the future,” Polo says, “and we wish him well.”
