Sarasota law partner switches firms, now based with Tampa practice

Area attorney Brett Henson has joined Carlton Fields’ construction practice as a shareholder in the firm’s Tampa office.

He was most recently a partner at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick in Sarasota and served as an associate attorney at Dickinson and Gibbons, also in Sarasota, before that.

Henson’s practicing background involves commercial and construction litigation, counseling and assisting residential and commercial property owners, developers, and construction industry professionals in all facets of a construction project, according to a statement. He also has experience resolving claims involving insurance proceeds and insurance coverage, in addition to handling all types of construction disputes.

“Brett’s range of experience, from transactional to trial, will be of immediate value to the firm and our clients,” says Cary Wright, chair of Carlton Fields' Construction Practice in the statement, “His joining the firm further bolsters our industry-leading roster of litigators as construction litigation cases continue to rise.”

Carlton Fields was founded in Tampa in 1901 and grew from a regional presence to a national one serving a variety of industries including health care, securities and investment companies and various sectors of finance, to name a few.
