Sarasota EDC to mark 20-year anniversary at annual breakfast event

The Economic Development Corp. of Sarasota County is celebrating its 20th anniversary in May during its annual Economic Outlook breakfast event, scheduled for Thursday, May 16.

The event, in addition to a special 20th anniversary presentation that highlights the journey of how the EDC of Sarasota County came to be and where the organization is headed, includes a panel of industry experts. Panelists are: 

  • Shari Bower, regional executive of the Miami Branch, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
  • Nathan Ohle, president and CEO of the International Economic Development Council
  • Michael Snipes, associate professor of instruction, University of South Florida

Business Observer Managing Editor Mark Gordon will moderate the panel. Attendees, according to a statement from the EDC, "will have an opportunity to hear state, regional, and local economic predictors, and their implications on the economy."

The event will take place at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota at 1111 Ritz Carlton Drive, Sarasota. Networking begins at 7 a.m., and the event starts at 8:00 a.m.
