Allegiant Air has added a nonstop route from Washington, D.C., to Punta Gorda Airport in Charlotte County.

The announcement comes as part of a wider route expansion at Las Vegas-based Allegiant, which is adding 12 new nonstop routes in 22 cities. That includes service to Bismark, North Dakota, from St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport. That service begins May 15, 2024, according to a statement.

Allegiant’s service to Washington Dulles International Airport begins May 16, 2024. “Our community will be thrilled about Allegiant adding this new route to our nation’s capital,” Punta Gorda Airport CEO James Parish says in the release. “We look forward to our local residents having nonstop access to Washington DC.”

Additionally, Allegiant has added another Florida airport to its network: Orlando International Airport. That marks the first airport Allegiant has added since March 2022.
