Naples luxury homebuilder A. Vernon Allen Builder is expanding to Sanibel.

The move, company officials say in a statement, comes after the devastation of Hurricane Ian. Ryan Benson, a co-owner of the company, has a home on the east end of the island, and he “felt the timing after the storm was right for this expansion in order to build back the new homes for island residents,” the release states.

Benson operates the company, which was founded in Naples in 1951, along with Andy Bringardner. This is the company’s first expansion to a new market.

“We want to ensure the proper quality, craftsmanship and character will be consistent with what the island is and will become,” Benson says in the release. “There are a limited number of contractors that existed on the island before the hurricane, and after discussions with multiple island neighbors, the city and residents, we wanted to ensure the rebuild of the island stays consistent with what the island was."
