Amid a large list of new openings, a new retail tenant was recently announced to be coming to Lakewood Ranch.

The Black Dog store is the newest addition to the master-planned community. It will be located in the community’s newest town center Waterside Place. The store, which sells resort wear, has one other location in Florida, on St. Armands Circle.

Recently opened businesses at the 36-acre town center include:

  • Man Cave for Men, a barber shop
  • Monkee’s, a boutique
  • Florida Provisions Co., a retail and bar concept
  • Forked, a breakfast, lunch, brunch and cocktails establishment
  • John Cannon Model Experience Center, a model home center
  • M/I Homes Design
  • M/I Homes Financial
  • M/I Homes Title Agency

“Waterside Place has truly become a hub of activity for Lakewood Ranch,” Kirk Boylston, president of Lakewood Ranch Commercial, says in a release. “The design, layout and most of all, the tenants who are occupying the project, are providing a place that can be enjoyed by everyone who goes there.”

The release also states that even more establishments are planned to open as the year progresses. Those include:

  • SHACK, a yoga studio
  • Capstan Financial
  • Marmalade, a home decor and furnishings store
  • Modish Salon
  • Good Liquid Distilling Co.
  • Osteria 500, an Italian restaurant
  • Shore Rejuvenation, a spa
  • Agave Bandido, a Mexican-American restaurant and tequileria
  • Deep Lagoon, a seafood and oyster restaurant
  • Duck Donuts
  • Platinum Palm Properties
  • Cileone Jewelers
  • Williams Parker Law

“The majority of the project is leased with a large number of business openings planned for 2023, which will provide many new dining and shopping options for our guests,” Boylston says. “It has been extremely gratifying for everyone who has made this project come to life (and to) see so many people there meeting new and old friends, shopping, dining, listening to music or participating in events at Waterside Place. It has turned out to be the place that we hoped it would.”

The town center’s community Waterside is Lakewood Ranch’s first Sarasota village. In addition to commercial, retail and office space, the village features an 8-acre park and nature trails. Of the 5,000 for sale and rental homes offered at Waterside, more than 1,400 have already been sold or leased, the release states.

Lakewood Ranch, with over 63,000 residents, features more than 33,000 acres in its community that spans over both Sarasota and Manatee counties.
