Marie Selby Botanical Gardens President and CEO Jennifer Rominiecki has been elected chair of the Visit Florida Board of Directors for fiscal year 2024. Currently vice chair, she will begin her one-year term July 1.

Rominiecki has served on the Visit Florida board since July 2020. Visit Florida is the state's official tourism marketing corporation, serving as the state’s official source for travel planning for visitors. The nonprofit was created as a public/private partnership by the Florida Legislature in 1996.

“I am deeply honored to serve as chair of this vital organization that is so essential to the state of Florida’s record-breaking success in tourism and the resulting economic impact,” said Rominiecki.

Selby Gardens’ CEO since 2015, Rominiecki is overseeing the creation and phase one construction of a three-phase master site plan for the downtown Sarasota campus. The first phase of the project is expected to open this November, resulting in the first net-positive energy botanical garden complex in the world.

In 2020, Selby Gardens adopted Historic Spanish Point in the Osprey area of Sarasota County as a companion campus to its flagship Sarasota location.
