The Mosaic Co. says it elected Jody Kuzenko, president and CEO of Torex Gold, to the Tampa-based company's board of directors, effective Jan. 1.
Mosaic will benefit from Kuzenko's knowledge of mining and her understanding of the Canadian business and legal environments, says Gregory L. Ebel, Mosaic chairman of the board.
Kuzenko joined Torex in 2018 as chief operating officer and was named president and CEO in 2020. Kuzenko has more than 20 years of operational and business experience in mining industries, mainly at Vale (formerly Inco), according to a Mosaic statement.
Kuzenko serves as a director of the World Gold Council. Previous board experience includes the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, the Association of Major Power Consumers of Ontario and the Industrial Gas Users Association of Canada, according to the Torex Gold website.
Kuzenko holds a bachelor of laws degree from the University of Western Ontario and an honors bachelor of arts degree from McMaster University.
The election of Kuzenko follows the resignation of board member Denise C. Johnson, a Caterpillar group president of resource industries, who left for reasons other than disagreement with Mosaic policy, according to an 8-K filing that Mosaic filed Wednesday.
Mosaic is the Gulf Coast's third-largest publicly traded company, with 2022 revenues of $19.1 billion. The company has 13,000 employees in eight countries, producing and delivering millions of tons of phosphate and potash fertilizers from mine to market.
