New general manager appointed for The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota

The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota has a named industry veteran Mark Sherwin general manager.

Sherwin, according to a statement, was most recently executive vice president of operations for Sonesta International Hotel Corp., where he was responsible for the brand’s managed portfolio of 266 hotels, including five distinct brands.

Sherwin replaces Rajesh “Raj” Khubchandani, who had been general manager of the property from July 2021 to September 2023. Khubchandani, according to his LinkedIn profile, is now vice president of hotels and resorts for the Walt Disney World Co. 

Sherwin, meanwhile, will oversee operations for all facets of The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota, including its dining venues, exclusive beach club and golf club and newly renovated spa. 

Sherwin has worked for The Ritz-Carlton before. He was general manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner in McLean, Virginia, and a regional vice president, sales and marketing for The Ritz-Carlton brand in Chevy Chase, Maryland. 

“I am honored to be returning to The Marriott International family, especially to lead the exceptional Ladies and Gentlemen at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota. I am committed to upholding the highest standards of luxury and service The Ritz-Carlton brand is known for,” Sherwin says in the statement.
