The Sarasota Opera will house it sets and props at a new location.

The company has leased 19,000 square feet at the SRQ Distribution Campus at 7201 15th St E. in Manatee County and plans to move from its current space on Tallevast Road toward the end of the year. The new location, which will be used for storage, has 1,500 square feet of office space and 17,500 square feet of warehouse space.

Terms of the lease were not immediately available.

Mellissa Harris, a partner with Ian Black Real Estate, says the opera was drawn to the space in part because it has a 26-foot clear-height, which “allows for extra upward space for stacking items even though the footprint is relatively small.”

The Sarasota commercial real estate firm represented the industrial park’s owner and announced the lease.

SRQ Distribution’s owners began redeveloping the industrial park last year, breaking ground on three warehouse buildings that totaled 60,000 square feet of new space. Construction is expected to be complete in September.

The park, which was previously known as Biotech Campus, is in south Manatee about a half-mile from the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. It includes a vacant 18,800-square-foot office building that recently underwent an extensive renovation and a 12,500-square-foot warehouse leased to a long-term tenant, the firm says.

The Sarasota Opera leased all of Building Three at 1550 Bio Tech Way.
