Almost every business uses data nowadays, but does every business know how to execute a proper data strategy, from data use to securing its data?

That's why Embarc Collective, a Tampa-based nonprofit startup hub, will host the D4 Conference on Thursday, Aug. 24, and Friday, Aug. 25.

The conference will be D4's first on data execution: the design of data systems, applying data in one's business and using data to enhance value and the products of businesses, according to D4 organizers and the Certus Group, which founded D4. The conference seeks to inform businesses and nonprofits of all stripes.

Embarc Collective says it is one of Florida's fastest-growing startup hubs, supporting about 125 tech and tech-enabled startups.

But the need for data management and instruction on how to use data to improve product and service is an ever-growing challenge, organizers say. Thus, the D4 Conference will draw in speakers from across the country to speak at the hub. The event is open to the public and will focus on attracting not only C-suite officials but also emerging professionals, say D4 Conference organizers.

Speakers include:

  • Dan Folliard, chief data and artificial intelligence officer for U.S. Special Operations Command
  • Julianne Jochym, senior director of strategy and analytics for the Orlando City soccer club
  • Jake Dyal, CEO of Certus Group
  • Sarah Adams, program analyst for the Intelligence Systems Support Office of the Department of Defense
  • More to be announced

Virtual attendance will also be supported.

Embarc Collective was founded to help Tampa Bay's startups to build scalable companies. Its 32,000 square foot hub is at 802 E. Whiting St., Tampa.
