For the sixth consecutive month, St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport — also known as PIE, its airport code — has experienced record-breaking levels of passenger traffic.

According to a news release, PIE welcomed 193,073 passengers in August, a 20% increase over August 2021. Year to date, 28% more travelers have departed from and/or arrived at the facility.

PIE serves 65 destinations with nonstop flights offered primarily by Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air. Canadian carrier Sunwing Airlines also operates at the airport.

St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport is also celebrating an impressive showing at the 2022 Florida Governor’s Conference, where it won The Henry, an award that honors creativity in public relations.

“We are honored to receive such a prestigious recognition in the competitive and innovative Florida tourism industry," states Jeff Clauss, PIE's marketing director, in the release. "We believe our new branding reflects who we are and how our customers feel about us. I am very proud of our airport team and our partnership with our agency, Starmark.”
