Developers are working to meet the need for housing in Florida seem to break ground on a new community every day.
This time it’s in Lakeland, where Welcome Developments has begun construction on 160 market-rate apartments on Old Tampa Highway at Browning Road in Lakeland.
Welcome Developments, which is a subsidiary of Murex Enterprise from Brooklyn, moved into Polk County to meet a demand for housing as the county undergoes a boom of sorts. The company says economic growth is helping drive the need for apartments, pointing toward warehouse development Lakeland Linder International Airport.
Details of what the project will include when complete were not available. And a Murex spokesperson did not respond to an email or text asking about how much the property or the project cost.
The complex, according to renderings, will include four buildings built around a club house with a pool. The apartments facing the interior will have a view of green space as well as what appears to be a lake with a fountain.
Construction has already begun and is expected to be done by October 2023.
