SynDaver Labs Inc., a Tampa biotech company that specializes in the creation of synthetic human and animal cadavers for medical testing and training, plans to give away $250,000 worth of products via its educational division, SynDaver Education, to schools, colleges and universities, as well as EMS and fire departments.
The giveaway coincides with SynDaver’s launch of the next generation of SynTissue, a proprietary library of materials used to create the company’s models and products. According to a news release, the improved SynTissue, made of water fibers and salts, is a more realistic, durable, latex-free and microbe-resistant product that allows for longer shelf life and less maintenance.
“We are constantly looking for new ways to improve our technology and deliver simulation technologies that exceed the expectations of students and educators,” SynDaver founder and CEO Dr. Christopher Sakezles states in the release. “Having been awarded 18 U.S. patents is confirmation that we are innovators in the industry. With products like our full-body anatomy models, airway trainers and the surgical canine, students are able to hone their skills on an anatomically correct device, with the same tactile experience they would have if performing the procedure on a live patient or animal. This experience and the confidence they gain are invaluable as they advance in their medical career.”
He adds, “This product giveaway is meant to show our commitment to the educational sector and also demonstrates our commitment to limit — and ultimately end — the use of live and cadaveric humans and animals for training and testing.”
Applications for the SynDaver product giveaway will be accepted until Nov. 30, with winners to be announced on Dec. 15. For more information and to enter, visit SynDaver’s website.
