Construction has begun on a 304-unit apartment complex in Cape Coral.

The complex will be called the Springs a Coral Shores and will be on the north side of Pine Island Road next to the Coral Shores Shopping Center.

According to the Wisconsin developer Continental Properties, the garden-style apartments will include “townhouse-style” studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units with private entrances and the option for a garage.

Amenities will include gourmet kitchens and private patios or balconies along with standards like a fitness center and a leash-free dog park with a pet spa.

Leasing is expected to begin in the summer and the first residents are expected to move in during the fall as the clubhouse and first building are done being built.

Continental was founded in 1979. The company says it has developed more than 110 communities totaling 31,000 units in 19 states.

It has 15 Spring branded properties in Florida, including seven from Bradenton south to Naples.
