Attorney Todd Zhang, a veteran of such companies as Bloomin’ Brands and TECO Energy, has joined the board of directors of Tampa-based LM Funding America Inc. (NASDAQ: LMFA), a technology-based specialty finance company that commenced Bitcoin mining operations in September. He succeeds Joel Rodgers, who has retired.

According to a news release, Zhang has spent the bulk of his career in corporate counsel roles, specializing in securities, corporate governance, employee benefits, acquisitions and compliance. On Nov. 28, he starts a new position as vice president and general counsel at Intertape Polymer Group Inc.

Zhang served as director, senior counsel and assistant board secretary at Bloomin' Brands, parent company of Outback Steakhouse and other national restaurant brands, from September 2020 to Nov. 18, 2022. From July 2018 to August 2020, he was corporate counsel and a board director at TECO Energy.

“We are pleased to welcome Todd Zhang to the LM Funding board of directors,” LM Funding CEO Bruce Rodgers states in the release. “He brings an array of knowledge and experience across a wide array of disciplines, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, securities, M&A and more. As a result, we believe he will further our board’s prioritization of sound corporate governance and regulatory compliance as we move into the next phase of our Bitcoin mining strategy."

Rodgers adds, "We would also like to extend our gratitude to Joel Rodgers for his long and valuable service to our company since its inception and through its recent transition.”
