SARASOTA — The Glasser/Schoenbaum Human Services Center has named Charlene Altenhain executive director.
Altenhain, primary operations leader since 2014 and COO since 2018 at Glasser/Schoenbaum, one of the leading human services nonprofits in Sarasota, replaces Kameron Hodgens, who is stepping down from the role.
“The board was unanimous in its excitement to name Charlene to the role of executive director,” says Robin Serbin, board president, in a news release. “Her passion and commitment to the organization, along with her demonstrated leadership show that she is the right person for the job. We are all looking forward to the center’s next chapter.”
Hodgens was the executive director and CEO of the Sarasota-based nonprofit, which is home to 17 nonprofit health and human services agencies. The changes will be made official March 28.
“We are so sad to see Kameron go, but we are excited for her future endeavors as she stays involved in the community,” Altenhain says in the statement. “I have absolute confidence in the team we have built at Glasser/Schoenbaum. Together, we are ready to serve the human services network as it grows and strengthens.”
Altenhain is directly involved with a number of community organizations, including serving as chair for the Community Alliance of Sarasota County and as co-chair of the Adult Leadership Program. She’s also a member of the Leadership Council for the Greater Sarasota Chamber, and Sarasota County’s Human Services Advisory Council.
The organization also announced three other promotions: Sarah Glendening was named director of community relations; Marian Haup was named facilities manager; and Andrea Lane was named director of administration.
“I will forever be inspired by the center’s mission, staff, and board,” Hodgens says. “This organization, along with each of our nonprofit tenant partners, will always be close to my heart. I look forward to continuing to work with many community partners in the years to come.”
