Student, library namesake join hospital board

The hospital made the announcement earlier this month.

The namesake of a library and a student representative recently joined the HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital board of trustees.

Shannon Staub and Andrew Rennie were named the newest members.

Staub has previously served on the board, according to a press release. Throughout her time in Sarasota County, Staub was on the Sarasota County Commission from 1996-2010 for the Englewood, North Port and Venice district. Following her retirement, she became the founding president of the Library Foundation of Sarasota County. The Shannon Staub Public Library in North Port was also named after her.

Rennie, a current student at the Florida State University College of Medicine, previously was an honor graduate of the University of South Florida Honor College. He’ll graduate in 2023 with a Doctorate of Medicine. Rennie is also a recipient of the Chapman Humanism Award, which is presented to students who provide compassionate care to patients and are considered role models in the industry.
