LAKEWOOD RANCH — Texas-based community developer Forestar Group Inc. named D.R. Horton the first homebuilder of Star Farms, a multigenerational lifestyle community in fast-growing Lakewood Ranch.
Plans include nearly 300 homes in the first phase, with up to 25 floor plans.
Forestar Group began construction of Star Farms at Lakewood Ranch in early 2021. The 700-acre, gated neighborhood is expected to be home to 1,500 single family homes, paired villas and townhomes with amenities, clubs and hospitality services in a resort ranch hometown-feel, according to a statement.
D.R. Horton plans to feature single-family homes, townhomes and villas ranging from approximately 1,500 to over 3,100 square feet, showcasing its D.R. Horton, Emerald and Freedom Homes brands. As part of the first phase, potential homebuyers will have the opportunity to tour nine models. Construction is currently underway with the projected opening in early 2022.
“D.R. Horton is excited to be a featured homebuilder in Star Farms,” says Tarak Patel, D.R. Horton Tampa South City manager, in the statement. “Being part of this new community enables us to provide additional homebuying opportunities with an enhanced lifestyle in Lakewood Ranch. Our future homeowners can explore an array of single-family offerings, including our very popular Modern Series, paired villas, carefree one-story single-family homes and townhomes. As the largest builder in the nation, D.R. Horton truly provides homes for every stage in life, which is something that will be resoundingly true at Star Farms.”
Forestar Group has operations in 49 markets and 21 states. It is a majority-owned subsidiary of D.R. Horton.
“We are pleased to partner with D.R. Horton and unveil Star Farms at Lakewood Ranch,” says Forestar West Florida Division President Tony Squitieri in the press release. “With a range of product offerings catering to multigenerational buyers and two decades as the leading homebuilder in the nation, D.R. Horton is the ideal first homebuilder in our resort ranch hometown.”
