SARASOTA — A well-known law firm is expanding its Sarasota office after announcing the addition of attorney Michael McKinley.
The firm, Shumaker, will now offer public policy and government affairs services. It’s also expanding the real estate and development teams.
“Mike brings an impressive level of experience practicing school law and representing educational institutions for more than 35 years,” says Shumaker Partner Dan DeLeo in a statement. “His extensive experience representing and advising multiple school boards in the state of Florida for the last eight years, including Charlotte County, Glades and Hardee Counties, brings immense value to our public law clients.”
McKinley brings in over 40 years of experience. The new attorney will oversee public policy and government affairs for the Sarasota office. He is the first assistant county attorney hired in Charlotte County.
“I am excited to be joining such a talented team at Shumaker,” says McKinley. “I believe my background practicing in business law, zoning, commercial loans, planning and land use, administrative law and education law will serve me and our clients exceptionally well.”
McKinley also will assist with the firm’s real estate work relating to community associations, owners, and developers.
The Shumaker firm has more than 270 lawyers and advisors in its eight offices, which includes two locations in Florida.
