Allegiant Air is adding two more non-stop flights out of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.
Beginning July 2, the airline will start flying nonstop to Northwest Arkansas National Airport in Bentonville. That will be followed October 7 with flights to Provo Airport in Provo, Utah.
The new destinations are part of an expansion Allegiant announced Tuesday, with six new routes.
The airport currently offers flights to 54 locations domestically, mostly through Allegiant Air. In addition to the two new destinations, Allegiant is adding flights out of St.Pete-Clearwater to Little Rock, Ark, this month and Portsmouth, N.H. in June.
St.Pete-Clearwater International announced earlier this month that passenger traffic in April jumped 2,740%. That's when compared to April 2020 when the world was in the early grips of the pandemic and global air travel came to a near standstill. The airport suffered its biggest decline of the year that month with traffic falling 97%.
When compared with April of 2019, passenger traffic for April 2021 fell 20%.
To date, passenger traffic is up 9% year-over-year when compared with 2020.
