Law partner elected Goodwill board chair

Goodwill Manasota recently announced the company’s 2021-22 board of directors. 

Steve Boone, who served on the board for 10 years before rotating off in the 2019-20 fiscal year, was elected board chair, according to a statement. He previously served in this position in 2013 and 2014. Boone is a partner at Boone Law Firm, a member of the American Bar Association and charter member of the Venice-Englewood Bar Association. 

The 2021-22 board of directors also includes: 

  • Eric Kaplan, new member 
  • Betsy Benac, new member
  • Xtavia Bailey
  • Debbie Douglas
  • Rae Dowling
  • Shawn Hanlon
  • Rod Hollingsworth
  • Rob Morris
  • Laurie O’Loughlin-Shulman
  • Allen Weinstein
  • Brad West, chair emeritus

The board is currently focused on the investment and utilization of the recent $10 million gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, the release states, The funds are being used to expand several programs in the area. 

“We can only succeed in our mission of changing lives through the power of work if we are all working together toward the same goals," says Bob Rosinsky, Goodwill Manasota’s president and CEO, in the press release. "Our volunteer board members are essential in providing their leadership, guidance and expertise, and ensuring our mission is being served. We look forward to our new board’s service to Goodwill and our community in the coming year.”
