Rhonda Shear, who turned her 1990s TV sitcom notoriety — along with some design skills and entrepreneurial instincts — into a multimillion-dollar St. Petersburg-based intimate apparel company, is downsizing her living quarters in the region.
Shear and her husband and business partner, Van Fagan, recently listed their Snell Isle estate, what she calls Casa de Palm Ahh after her flagship intimate apparel line, the Ahh Bra. (The company has sold some 30 million Ahh Bras.) The nearly 10,000-square-foot waterfront home, with five bedroom suites and nine bathrooms, is on the market for $9.03 million. Other features of the home include a grand salon ballroom, library, game room, gym, theater, indoor bar, outdoor kitchen, saltwater pool/spa and 50-foot dock. The listing agent is Chuck Anderson of Bay to Beach Properties and Keller Williams Realty of Gulf Beaches of Pinellas.
Shear, in a statement, stresses that while she and her husband are scaling back their living space, her business ventures, including the apparel company, Shear Enterprises, continue to grow. The 2012 Business Observer Entrepreneur of the Year, Shear, like many others in retail, has shifted her business model amid the pandemic. Once a staple on HSN, Shear now sells the Ahh Bra and other lines via shopping channels on Skype, Zoom and Streamyard, according to the statement.
Shear also chats with celebrity friends on her weekly web show, the Rhonda Shear Social Hour; is writing a New Orleans inspired cookbook; developing a cookware line; and launching a comfort loungewear brand. One more big move? Shear plans to open a high-end consignment boutique called (re)treat in downtown St. Petersburg, on, sticking to her brand, Valentine's Day.
