TAMPA — ReliaQuest, one of the largest cybersecurity companies in the area, will move 400 employees into its new 120,000-square-foot headquarters in the Water Street development early next year and will hire another 150 to 200 by the end of the year.
The expansion in workforce and headquarters space, the company says, is to support operations as it continues to grow in the U.S. and globally.
“We’re investing in this community because we believe in the region’s potential as a new tech center for cyber security and the local talent,” Greg Farrell, ReliaQuest’s CFO, says in a statement.
The company announced Aug. 24 that it is moving into the top six floors of the Thousand & One building in Water Street, the 56-acre development just outside of downtown Tampa. According to a spokeswoman, the move will come early next year.
With the move, ReliaQuest will become the biggest tenant at the Thousand & One building and its name will appear on signage at the top.
In the statement announcing the move the company called its new home the “distinctive center” of Water Street, which, is expected to bring nine million square feet of new construction that will include commercial, residential, hospitality, entertainment and retail space when complete.
The 385,000-square-foot tower, the first to be built in downtown Tampa since 1992, features 10-foot tall floor-to-ceiling glass to maximize natural light and a series of outdoor, landscaped terraces containing “raingardens” and outdoor awnings that enhance shade.
Thousand & One also includes a series of green touches — from heightened air filtration indoors to “pocket parks” outside.
ReliaQuest says the building “is part of a holistically balanced urban design experience within a walkable community bringing people, productivity and wellness into alignment.”
The developer, Strategic Property Partners, is a joint venture between investor and Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Bill Gates’ Cascade Investment LLC. SPP is hoping the environmental push will allow Thousand & One to achieve both a LEED certification for construction and be among the first in the U.S. to obtain a WELL certification from the International WELL Building Institute for building systems.
Before ReliaQuest, Thousand & One had landed three tenants: Chicago-based accounting firm RSM US LLP, Suffolk Construction and Sila Realty Trust Inc. The three will take up a combined 34,700 square feet.
RSM and Suffolk are expected to move into Thousand & One in September, with Sila Realty relocating from the Westshore suburbs in January.
ReliaQuest's headquarters are currently at One Harbor Place.
