LAKELAND — Amazon’s new fulfillment center, under construction in Auburndale, will create 500 full-time jobs that start at $15 per hour with benefits.

According to a press release, the e-commerce giant is accepting applications for jobs at the one million-square-foot facility, located at 676 C. Fred Jones Blvd., Auburndale. Job seekers can apply online at www.amazondelivers.jobs

Successful applicants, the release states, will pick, pack and ship larger-sized items to customers across central Florida, including bulk cleaning supplies and paper goods, sports equipment, pet food and supplies, electronics and household goods.

Amazon, according to the release, also plans to open a new delivery station in nearby Lakeland by the end of the year. It will power Amazon’s last-mile delivery capabilities and speed up deliveries for customers in the Lakeland metro area.

“Amazon Logistics has signed a lease in an effort to open a new delivery station in Lakeland in 2020,” Amazon spokesman Owen Torres states in the release. “We are excited to continue to invest in the state of Florida with a new delivery station that will provide efficient delivery for customers and create hundreds of job opportunities for the talented workforce.”

Since 2010, the release states, Amazon has created more than 30,000 jobs in Florida and invested more than $9.5 billion across the state.
