SARASOTA — Sun Hydraulics will donate over 250 meals to first responders at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Manatee Memorial Hospital on May 29.
An employee-driven fundraiser raised over $3,000 to feed frontline workers, according to a press release. The company matched the donation, bringing the total donation to over $6,000 to provide hot meals to area first responders, the release adds.
In a partnership with local restaurant group Mattison’s, boxed meals will be delivered during the lunch and dinner shifts at both hospitals. The meals will be delivered to the often unsung heroes at these facilities — the environmental service and housekeeping staff, a statement says.
Employees at Sun Hydraulics raised funds through employee-made donation boxes in its three Sarasota facilities and an online GoFundMe campaign for employees working remotely.
Sun Hydraulics, an essential business supplying hydraulic control valves to agriculture, supply chain and government agencies, has remained in operation during recent stay-at-home orders. Employees coming to work each day have donated over 800 pounds and counting of non-perishable food to the Manatee Food Bank, the release states.
Sun Hydraulics has three manufacturing locations and employs 765 people in the Sarasota area. With additional operations in the UK, Germany, Korea and China, Sun employs 1,145 across the globe.
