Area manufacturer to donate $5M in medical supplies

Superior Group of Companies’ scrubs will go to hospitals in New York, Texas and Arkansas that are struggling with COVID-19 cases.

SEMINOLE — Superior Group of Companies Inc. (NASDAQ: SGC) will donate $5 million worth of scrubs, from its WonderWink and Fashion Seal Healthcare lines, to hospitals and health care facilities in areas of the country severely affected by COVID-19. 

According to a press release, SGC has partnered with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s team to get the scrubs to several New York hospitals. The firm has also worked with the Texas Division of Emergency Management and Arkansas Economic Development Commission to plan for the distribution of scrubs to health care facilities in those states. 

“Superior Group of Companies has been outfitting essential health care professionals in quality work apparel for 100 years, so we are proud to carry on that rich tradition in this moment of need,” SGC CEO Michael Benstock states in the release. “With these scrubs, we hope to help the frontline professionals who continue their heroic care of patients battling COVID-19.” 

Via subsidiaries Superior Sourcing and The Office Gurus, SGC is also distributing scrubs and masks to hospitals and medical facilities in Haiti and El Salvador, respectively, the release states. 

SGC reported $376.7 million in gross revenue in 2019, up from $346.35 million in 2018.
