TAMPA — Woodie’s Wash Shack, a car wash brand inspired by early 1960s surf culture, has begun construction on its first of several Hillsborough County locations.

The company, led by veteran property developer Don Phillips, launched its debut car wash facility in St. Petersburg in April.

The second location will be located at 4545 W. Gandy Blvd., in south Tampa, and is expected to open in January 2021, according to a press release.

Unlike the St. Pete location, the south Tampa car wash is being built from the ground up, allowing the Woodie’s team full creative freedom to design the best experience for members.

Phillips has acquired 11 Gulf Coast properties with the goal of growing Woodie’s into a statewide and, eventually, national brand.
