LAKEWOOD RANCH — Homebuilder Neal Communities sold 107 homes in May, a strong increase from March and April — months that saw buyer caution due to COVID-19.
May sales were also up 47% over May 2019, according to a press release. After the housing market dipped in March and April, the company says it saw a swift recovery in May back to pre-virus numbers.
The company also marked five community sales closeouts during the month at Tides End, The Ridge at Crossing Creek, Coconut Cove, Watermark and Cypress Walk.
The uptick in sales applies to Neal’s entire market from Manatee to Collier counties and to the company’s luxury home division, Neal Signature Homes. Neal Signature also beat forecasted sales goals, the release adds.
“No matter the economic conditions, people still want and need housing,” says Neal Communities Founder and Chairman Pat Neal in a statement. “Combined with this need, we are also finding that our adaptability to using virtual methods to sell homes is working.”
The homebuilder transitioned to virtual tools at the end of March to safely continue the buying process. All aspects of buying, from initial research to home design to signing closing paperwork, can be conducted remotely.
Neal Communities is also reporting an increase in call volume and website activity, which the company says suggests additional homebuyers will move through the buying process in the coming weeks.
“As the state begins to open back up, we’re extremely encouraged by this increased activity, suggesting that many consumers are regaining economic confidence,” says Neal.
Lakewood Ranch-based Neal Communities has built over 15,000 new homes in more than 90 communities from Tampa to Naples during the company’s 50-year history. Sales in fiscal year 2019 were $410 million. Neal Communities brands also include Neal Land & Neighborhoods, Charlene Neal PureStyle, Waterscapes Pools & Spas, Neal Communities Funding and Allegiant Title Professionals.
