CLEARWATER — Eckerd Connects, a Clearwater-based nonprofit that assists children, young adults and families in need, has named Tony Van Slyke its new CFO.

According to a press release, Eckerd Connects conducted a national search to fill the role.

Van Slyke, the release states, previously served as vice president and CFO of Goodwill of Houston. During his 12 years there, he helped grow the organization’s resources from $30 million to $150 million and its staff from 400 to 2,100.

“Tony is an innovative, strategic leader with deep expertise in all aspects of finance,” Eckerd Connects President and CEO David Dennis states in the release. “His heart, passions and highly motivational approach for growing one’s own potential align well with the mission of Eckerd Connects.”

Eckerd Connects was founded in 1968 by Jack and Ruth Eckerd and has helped connect more than 250,000 people to workforce development programs, family and child services and juvenile justice services.

“I look forward to joining an organization with such a rich tradition of providing solutions that promote the well-being of children, young adults and families in need,” Van Slyke states in the release, “and I am excited to be serving alongside a very talented staff that exemplifies a passion for the mission, vision and values of Eckerd Connects on a daily basis.”
