ST. PETERSBURG — Jacksonville-based Sound Payments, a tech firm that fights fraud at gas pumps and other points of sale, has opened an office in St. Petersburg.
The new location, according to a press release, will support the firm’s Petro Solutions division, which focuses on the elimination of scams and fraud schemes at gas stations via payment card technology known as EMV Easy Pump. Sound Payments expects the new office to create 20 high-wage jobs and help the company grow by 50% in 2020.
The firm held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony Jan. 28 attended by St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman, representatives of the Greater St. Petersburg Area Economic Development Corp., St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and petroleum and payments industry leaders.
"I couldn't be more excited to welcome Sound Payments and am thrilled they are bringing technology and financial-focused jobs to St. Petersburg,” Kriseman states in the release. “The work of Sound Payments aligns perfectly with our Grow Smarter strategy. I want to thank Sound Payments and look forward to having their team in the Sunshine City."
